Here's Why We Love These

  • The flavours of apples and cinnamon make a perfect fall drink, but they are great any time of year.
  • They're so simple! The actual drink is only two ingredients and the whipped cream topping is a crowning touch.
  • Apple pie shots add a fun element to any gathering.
  • These cider and Fireball shots really do taste just like apple pie!

Here's What You Need

  • Hard Apple Cider We like a dry cider which is less sweet, but any hard apple cider works.
  • Fireball Whisky Fireball is a cinnamon flavoured Canadian whisky. It's called "Fireball" for a reason. A little goes a long way!
  • Optional garnishes Rim your shot glasses with cinnamon sugar and add a slice of apple to each one before topping with whipped cream.

How To Make Your Shots

  1. Stir together cinnamon and sugar in a shallow dish.
  2. Moisten the rim of shot glasses (I use an apple slice) and dip the rims in the cinnamon sugar.
Steps one and two to make the recipe.
Rim each glass with cinnamon sugar
  1. Put an apple slice into each shot glass.
  2. Fill each glass three quarters full with apple cider.
Steps three and four to make this recipe.
Add an apple slice and cider to each glass
  1. Top up each glass with Fireball.
  2. Add a dollop of whipped cream to finish.

Steps five and six to make the apple pie shooters.
Top up with Fireball and a dollop of whipped cream.

Tips For Easy Shooters

  • It's surprisingly easy to get it wrong when measuring by eye. For accuracy, use a jigger to measure the alcohol.
  • We found the proportions taste most like apple pie at three parts cider and one part Fireball.
  • My shot glasses are 2 ounces. If yours are larger or smaller, just use the proportions above.
  • If you are making a lot of shots, you can mix the cider and Fireball in a pitcher and then fill the shot glasses.
  • Whipping cream in an aerosol dispenser is a convenient way to top the apple pie shooters with whipped cream.

Variations

  • Make it a cocktail. Instead of apple pie shooters, make full apple cocktails using the same proportions of fireball and apple cider.
  • Make it less boozy. Substitute the hard apple cider with soft apple cider or apple juice.
  • Make it more boozy. Substitute the apple cider with apple vodka.
  • Make it ala mode. Replace the whipped cream topping with vanilla ice cream. Use a melon baller to add a small scoop of ice cream to each apple pie shot.

In a Cocktail Mood?

If you're looking for more fall drink ideas, try a Ginger Snap Cocktail, or a Caprese Caesar Cocktail. Or warm up with a RumChata Hot Chocolate.

Gatherings are ideal for Sangria, too, and if you're a fan of bubbles, try a Prosecco Margarita or a Mexican Mule.
