What is a Margarita?
There are several different, and interesting versions of the origins of the margarita cocktail. Â But, regardless of how this yummy drink came to be, the ingredients of a classic margarita are the same. They are always: tequila, fresh lime juice, and an orange liqueur, such as Triple Sec, or Cointreau.
Shaken vs Blended Margarita
Whether you prefer a frozen, blended margarita, or an on the rocks version, or even a shaken one, is a personal preference. We like them on the rocks for a large batch and shaken for individual glasses. All versions are great, as long as you avoid the bright green commercial margarita mixes. A perfect margarita requires fresh lime juice.
Why a Prosecco Margarita Cocktail?
Bubbles make this Prosecco Margarita even more refreshing and festive. I love the effervescence of this sparkly drink, while it still tastes like a margarita. It's livelier and lighter than a classic Margarita.
Prosecco vs Champagne, What's the difference?
Although Champagne and Prosecco are both sparkling white wines, they are made using different processes and with different grapes. Champagne is from France, and Prosecco is from Italy. While Champagne is made with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes, Prosecco is made with Prosecco, (or Glera) grapes. The method of production to make Champagne is more costly than production methods for Prosecco. This is partly why it is more expensive. You can use Champagne or any sparkling wine for this bubbly cocktail, but I love the fruity dryness of Prosecco.
The right Tequila for Margaritas
The Margarita is all about the tequila, so be sure to use a quality Blanco tequila made from 100% blue agave. Be aware, that although tequila is naturally gluten-free, there are many cheaper brands that do contain gluten.
Have these amazing Prosecco Sparkling Margaritas for happy hour with Coconut Shrimp Tacos, or Stuffed Anaheim Peppers  And try using tequila another in another Cinco de Mayo cocktail: a Mexican Mule Or even put it in your dinner with this delicious Tequila Chicken Chili

What a fun addition to the classic margarita! I like to make them here at home too with fresh limes, but the addition of prosecco sounds like something else we should try - especially when it warms up. Thanks for sharing!
